1. Different Definitions

Lithium battery use lithium metal or lithium alloy as negative electrode material and with the non-aqueous electrolyte solution. Alkaline batteries uses manganese dioxide as the positive electrode, zinc as the negative electrode, and potassium hydroxide as the electrolyte.

2. Different Characteristics

Lithium battery cell has high energy and long service life. It can reach more than ten years of working life. The rated voltage is approximately equal to 3 pieces of NiCd or NiMH batteries in series connection. Lithium batteries can discharge at 1C or more. And the self-discharge rate is below 1%/month. It is one of the outstanding advantages of this battery.

The discharge current of alkaline batteries is small, such as 0.2C. And battery capacity will decrease as the output current increases. Such as, one battery capacity is 3000mAh at a low discharge rate, but when discharged at 1A, the capacity only has 700mAh, which is equivalent to 1/4 of the original.

3. Different Attention When Using

Maintaining the lithium battery power at 10%~90% is beneficial to protect the battery. 50% power is better for long-term storage. Charging temperature range of lithium batteries is 0~45℃, and the discharging temperature range is 0~60℃. Greenbatt LiFePO4 pouch cell can discharge at -20~60℃ that is suitable for low temp use.

Alkaline batteries will leak electrolytes when placed for a long time. Since the electrolyte is a corrosive alkaline substance potassium hydroxide, it will irritate the eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Alkaline battery electrolyte also corrodes metals and destroys electronic components. Therefore, the electrolyte leaked from the battery will also damage the electronic products.

4. Different Application

Alkaline batteries are especially suitable for cameras, flashes, shavers, electric toys, CD players, high-power remote controls, wireless mice, keyboards, etc.

Lithium batteries can be used in various mobile electronic devices, electric vehicles, starting power supplies, and energy storage in power systems. It has a wide range of applications.
